Our Story
Founded in 1990 by Tom Moses, an environmental attorney and former toxicologist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Spill Center levels the playing field for spill generators who are forced to deal with regulatory authorities, cleanup contractors and third-party claimants.

Mr. Moses, Spill Center president, believes that no transporter will ever have enough spills to get good at managing them. Spill Center deals with environmental releases every day. We have developed highly efficient systems for spill response, documentation and reporting as well as nationwide cleanup contractor referrals and disposal resources.

Our expertise and extensive resources are available to Spill Center subscribers on an as-needed basis. That enables them to be prepared for spill emergencies without having to expend resources to develop and maintain their own spill emergency response systems. Spill Center has it covered, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our Team
Heading the Spill Center team is Tom Moses, who holds a certificate in Hazardous Materials Control and Emergency Response from Georgia Institute of Technology and is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Environmental Law Institute.

Other team members include legal, technical and environmental specialists who are experienced in regulatory reporting, spill cleanup coordination, documentation of compliance activities, database maintenance and auditing of contractor and emergency responder invoices.

How We Make A Difference
Spill Center develops customized spill contingency plan for each subscriber, tailoring it to meet the transporter's specific needs. When a spill occurs - day or night - a single, toll-free phone call activates the plan. Spill Center staff members spring to action to help contain cleanup costs and limit the transporter's liability.

We fulfill all required written and telephone reporting requirements using our proprietary environmental claims reporting, tracking and documentation system. That ensures all spills are handled efficiently and correctly to avoid fines, inflated claims and high remediation costs.

Our cleanup contractor database contains more than 3,000 qualified contractors throughout North America who are equipped to quickly respond to spills to minimize costs. We also establish documentation to place the spill generator in a legally defensible position.

We use automated systems to track incidents, produce routine reports and generate root cause analysis data to help our subscribers identify conditions and trends that can be corrected to improve safety.

Spill Center subscribers range from large LTL fleets and private carriers to leasing companies, chemical companies and insurers.
